Protect the Planet at United Nations climate conferences
It has proved very worthwhile for us to be present at climate conferences, as they offer valuable opportunities for talks with other NGOs, high-ranking political representatives and climate change experts.
Civilian organisations are better networked now than ever before and play an indispensable role in terms of applying pressure and providing backing for progressive leaders of international climate policy. As well as networking and sharing ideas, we are able to make our own mark at various side events held in conjunction with climate conferences and strengthen support for our ideas and projects.
More about our participation in climate conferences:
COP27 in Sharm el-Sheik 2022

The 27th United Nations “Conference of the Parties” (COP) took place in the Egyptian resort of Sharm El-Sheik from 6-18 November 2022 in a difficult political environment. The military dictatorship was less than hospitable, with reports of wire-tapping, harassment and professional “troublemakers” dominating the news. However, civilian lobby groups did not allow themselves to be intimidated by this and really stood their ground at the COP. In view of the attendance by 600 registered lobbyists from the fossil-fuel industry, that show of strength was also urgently needed.

COP24 in Katowice 2018

The climate conference in Katowice was about implementation of the Paris Agreement of 2015.
We were there with plaintiffs of the People’s Climate Case and drew attention to the dramatic changes caused by global warming. We also drew the attention of the world’s media to the first climate case to be taken to the European Court of Justice. This case, taken by 11 plaintiffs (individuals and groups), focused on three EU climate-change directives.
