No gas in bavaria

Protests against natural gas drilling

Koa Gas – let us be clear: we are opposed to the planned extraction of natural gas in various regions of Bavaria, particularly in Reichling in the district of Landsberg am Lech. Behind the extraction plans is Energieprojekt Lech Kinsau 1 GmbH, which is 80% owned by MRH Mineralöl-Rohstoff-Handel GmbH and 20% by Genexo GmbH.

The test drilling has already been carried out, but it is still unclear what will happen next. If the drilling is deemed successful, natural gas production is planned for up to 15 years.

Resistance and protests

The planned drilling operations are meeting with considerable resistance from the local population, environmental organizations, and activists. In April 2025, around 1,200 people demonstrated in Reichling against the gas drilling. In August 2025, another demonstration took place with around 400 participants, including climate activist Luisa Neubauer. The protests are directed against the planned natural gas production and call for increased use of renewable energies.
